Visiting our website 

DHL is committed to preserving the privacy of users of our website. When you visit our website, the web servers temporarily store data for security reasons that may permit identification.
An online registration form takes place via the Internet. The following data may be collected: full name, job title, function, seniority level, work email, work location/address, work telephone, phone – extension, mobile phone number, shipment data and annual logistics spend.
Access reviews and controls, strong authentication and data backups are in place to ensure the functionality of the website and the security of our IT systems. These purposes are also covered by a legitimate interest in data processing. In particular, in order to guarantee security and a smooth connection setup, we have also a legitimate interest to process this data as provided in Art. 6 (1)(f) of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The data is deleted as soon as they are no longer needed to achieve the purpose for which they were collected. Data retention periods have been identified, documented and followed.

Interacting With Our Email Communication

In the context of email communication, your personal data will be processed (i.e. full name, job title, function, seniority level, work email, work location/address, shipment data and annual logistics spend, interaction with our communications). This needs to be done in order to understand your needs and interests, respond to your requests, provide customer support, and personalize our communications with you about our services, including by sending announcements, newsletters, updates for our products and offers, security alerts, support and administrative messages, and to administer surveys.

Consent

An online registration form takes place via the Internet. The following data will typically be requested: 
full name, job title, function, seniority level, work email, work location/address, work telephone, phone – extension, mobile phone number, shipment data and annual logistics spend.
The necessary information is marked as mandatory fields [*mandatory field]. The legal basis for the processing of the aforementioned data categories is consent as provided in Art. 6 (1)(a) of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The way how the user is able to withdraw the consent for future processing is prescribed in the process of obtaining the relevant consent. 

Performance of a contract

For contractual reasons, we also need personal data to provide our services and comply with the obligations arising from contractual agreements concluded with you. This data is used e.g. for performing a (shipment) contract, managing customer data, handling payments and, as the case may be, assessing creditworthiness. Certain shipment data will also be provided to the authorities of the country of transit or destination for customs and tax clearance or for security screening, as required by the laws of such country. The information provided would usually include: shipper name and address, receiver name and address, description of the goods, number of pieces, weight and value of shipment.
The legal basis is usually Art. 6 (1) (b) and (c) European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) since the processing is required to comply with legal obligations in connection with the performance of a contract to which you are a party.
Processing For Advertising Purposes

If you are an existing customer, your postal data (e.g. name, address) will be processed to contact you in order to provide you with the latest information about our offers, news, products and services. Apart from an existing consent, we will process your e-mail address exclusively in order to provide you with information regarding our products and services where it is legally allowed.

Legal basis for the aforementioned processing is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. The processing of customer data for own direct marketing purposes is regarded as carried out for a legitimate interest. 

You have right to object at any time to the said processing. To exercise your right, simply get in touch with us by using the contact details mentioned above under sec. 3.

If you register for one of our newsletters, we are entitled to use your e-mail address for this purpose. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking the relevant link at the bottom of the newsletter.
In case you file an objection or unsubscribe from our newsletter services the respective data will be removed from the mailing list or blocked, respectively deleted and no longer be processed for such purposes. 
Conducting Our Customer Survey

If you choose to conduct our voluntary feedback survey, your personal responses will be connected to your account, in order for us to improve our services to you. The results of the survey will be used to improve our services. All data will be handled in confidentiality.

The legal basis for this data processing is Art. 6(1)(a) of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), consent. 

We will delete this data as soon as the purpose for the collection has ceased.

DHL takes the necessary technical and organizational security measures to protect customer personal data from being lost or misused. For instance, data is saved in a secure operating environment which is not accessible to the public. In certain cases, data is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer technology (SSL) during transmission. To make sure personal data is secure, we communicate our privacy and security guidelines to DHL employees and ensure that appropriate safeguards are enforced.
